A Dentist with over 30 years experience
Hello, I am a dentist with over 30 years of experience in general dentistry. I became disillusioned with the bad breath treatments on offer by the major companies when I saw many of my patients with bad breath after using commercial mouthwash and toothpaste, and no explanation or reason that I understood for their continued halitosis. Unfortunately bad breath is not taught in dental school, and there are many "old wives tales" as to it causes and possible treatments. I decided I could treat these halitosis patients of my practice, if I could develop a clinic protocol and specialised products based on scientific evidence. So this is what I set out to do in 1997. Now in 2011 we are the leaders in bad breath treatment and bad breath probiotics.
One in Three People Suffer with Halitosis
During my research I discovered that one in three people suffer from halitosis. This 33% of sufferers rose to 50% (one in two people) once the age bracket creeped over 40 years. I can confirm these figures as we see patients every day at our Halitosis Clinic in Sydney, and we can test everyone on our Halicheck Gas Chromograph, the gold standard in measuring Volatile Gases such as the sulphur compounds that make up bad breath. |

Time line for a Bad Breath Cure
In 1997 I experimented with commercial mouthwashes and measurement machines but was not happy with any of them. I found that many types of bad breath were not able to be measured, especially any types that involved the back of the tongue and the throat. I later discovered that this type of bad breath is from a gas called Dimethyl Sulphide, and that it is extremely volatile and difficult to capture for reading. It only stays in the measurement syringes for a few minutes. So I decided it was time I to develop my own protocol and product line to treat all causes of bad breath. This line of products became known as BREEZE and it is still available as our fresh breath product line.
In 2003 I merged my two practices into a purpose built clinic in Edgecliff Sydney. This provided good access for patients all over Sydney to visit. The practice is on the Eastern Suburbs train line and only 10 minutes from the Sydney CBD.
In 2004 I was contacted by BLIS Technologies, a public company in New Zealand to help develop a mouthwash treatment for their S.salivarius K12 probiotics to treat mouth odour. The ability to use their scientific laboratories enabled me to develop our KFORCE Probiotic Product Range. This range is unique in the world as it is the only system that recognises bacteria need to live in the mouth. KFORCE focuses on putting a good probiotic on the tongue surface and then maintaining this new found mouth balance. It has been extremely successful and has been written up in many journals and dental magazines. |

 | The Start of BreezeCare Breath Clinic
In 2006 I started the BreezeCare Breath Clinic after I developed HALICHECK. This is a clinic protocol I developed around the use of Gas Chromography. It is the first device able to accurately measure throat mucous smells. Halicheck led to an extremely accurate measuring method for bad breath. In fact Halicheck is 100 times more sensitive than the human nose. The ability to measure even the minutest amount of mouth gas allowed me to determine bacteria that may cause the smells and the possible places in the mouth that these bacteria may live. This allowed me to develop targeted breath treatments. |

Apart from treating dental patients, I am also an active Internet advisor. I also personally answer questions posted on the BreezeCare Breath Clinic web sites. These web site achieve over 2500 hits per day, from people searching problems such as bad breath, halitosis, post nasal drip, dry mouth, sour taste and taste disorders, ulcers and sores of the mouth and tongue.
In 2009 I was invited to be a guest speaker at the Malaysian Dental Association Conference in Kuala Lumpur. The topic was "Setting up a Breath Clinic in a Dental Practice" |
